The synchronization of slightly out-of -step oscillators under mutual influence.
This curious effect was discovered by HUYGHENS in the 17th century (the spontaneous synchronization of two slightly out of phase clocks when fixed to a thin wooden board)
Inductive resonance is far from being limited to mechanical oscillators. As noted by LASZLO, it is related to "… the question of the stabilization around dynamically stable integral configurations in complex systems" (1974, p.217).
"It is found to occur in the energy transfer in photosynthesis between chlorophyll a and b, in the synchronization of the flashes of the fireflies, in the action of electronic pacemakers on the heart, in the adjustment of alpharhythms to stroboscopic flashes perceived through the eye" (Ibid).
