PHASE PORTRAIT 2)

"The set of all possible paths along which the system can evolve" (I. STEWART, 1989, p.44).
This is the potential content of the phase space of the system. It is generally not possible to consider all the possible paths, but the selection we make must include a critique of our own choice and we must never forget that we remain in danger to ignore some alternative solutions, which may reveal themselves more adequate to future reality.
POINCARÉ, who ideated phase portraits, also described the topological properties of various singular points in them: node, apex, neck, focus.
