MORPHOGENESIS (INVIRONMENT and ENVIRONMENT in) 1)2)
← Back
Provided the former emergence of an archetype, the construction of new elements or individuals of the same type seems to obey the two basic following rules:
1. There exists an internal mode of organization of the endogenous parts, based on an implicit blueprint of their interrelations, which leads to the production of characteristic structures and functions.
This seemingly tautological concept reflects probably an aptitude for co-operation at the superior level of organization, already present in the archetype.
2. Environmental signals serve as trigger factors or as constraints.
A good example is the construction of the neuron's axon and dendrites, as researched by M. KIRSCHNER and T. HUTCHINSON (1986, p.329-342).
