GENERALIZATION GRADIENT 1)
← Back
A differential measure in space and time of the real possibilities to extend the validity of some model.
This concept has been introduced by M. TODA (1976, p.84). Obviously, unsound generalizations or extrapolations may lead to inadequate results.
However, any practical measure of a generalization gradient seems a quite difficult proposal. Even so, the problem cannot simply be by-passed.
Fuzzy sets theory could possibly be helpful here.
