ETHNOCENTRISM 1)4)
← Back
The prevalence of a type of mindscapes and of its bearers in an organization or in a culture.
It is quite normal, probably inevitable, and possibly necessary that a system of values and norms, reflected in mindscapes, be predominant in any organized human system. It can be equated with a specific order parameter, in accordance with H. HAKEN slaving principle.
The problem is that it leads frequently, through ignorance or scorn of other values or norms, to serious mistakes, abuse, oppression and even cruelty.
Ethnocentrism as a systemic problem is widely explored by M. MARUYAMA (1994, p.42-5).
