EQUILIBRIUM of forces 2)
← Back
The result of the nullification in one point of two or several equal but opposed forces.
Examples are a book lying on a table or a ball in a bowl. J.de ROSNAY comments: "An equilibrium of forces is static. It can be modified only by a discontinuous change in the ratio of forces. A succesion of such discontinuities may lead to a runaway event" (1975, p.117-18).
