According to N. GEORGESCU-ROEGEN, "low entropy… is a necessary condition for a thing of value" (1971, p.282).
This is the viewpoint of an economist who equates value with usefulness. Value in this sense is necessarily an entropy based concept since low entropy is associated with order (a potential for use) or organization (a potential for efficient action), while high entropy implies uselessness.
