A basic code made of bytes that is used to represent a common language in a computer.
8 bits, each of it with the value 0 or 1 (or cells in a TURING Machine) make a byte. There are thus 2 , i.e. 256 possible distinct combinations, which is quite sufficient for example for common alphabets, with punctuation and special signs.
